JOB TITLE: Vice President/Executive Director, TV Programming & Acquisitions

DEPARTMENT: Programming

REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, Content

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as station manager, responsible for the development and implementation of programming strategies to create a successful program schedule for three networks, to ensure high ratings, audience loyalty and increased revenues. Represent programming and acquisition interests across the company (operations, legal, finance, business/sales, content, marketing) as well as with national programming affiliates and partners.


  • Develop and implement television and business strategies, including identifying opportunities for acquisition programming around specific genres and business units, negotiating business terms and ensuring timely and efficient production and delivery
  • Manage and supervise programming and traffic activities and personnel
  • Plan and manage program acquisition budgets
  • Select, negotiate and manage contracts and acquisitions for each of the television networks and acquired programs
  • Lead the collaboration between external producers and clients and internal partners including traffic, scheduling, sales, online services, marketing, etc., maximizing awareness and viewership of television programming
  • Works with the content team to refine the program schedule to ensure maximization of all content, promotional and development opportunities, schedule accuracy and continuity and FCC compliance
  • Participate in continuing reassessment of television product offerings, distribution strategies and operational efficiencies
  • Collect and analyze information about viewer preferences and tendencies and uses the information to guide programming decisions
  • Work across departments to resolve quality-control issues through successful communication of on-air policies, procedures and best practices
  • Ensures the consistent alignment of programming and acquisition activities with ongoing corporate goals and objectives
  • Implement promotional strategies and maintains interstitial and promotional break management and databases
  • Leverage data and analysis to guide decisions regarding the launch of new acquisitions, projects, initiatives and knowledge-sharing
  • Communicate market trends and industry shifts, including implications and recommendations, to internal and external partners
  • Assist with engagement and outreach efforts relating to TV programming
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Thorough understanding of the broadcast industry
  • More than 10 years of executive management and media/programming experience required
  • Demonstrated understanding of the CPTV brand
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and industry trends
  • Network program acquisition, scheduling and production experience required
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in project management to include leading creative projects and initiatives at a highly successful company
  • Ability to work independently and change direction frequently
  • Ability to manage and process detailed information while keeping perspective on the bigger picture
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and across multiple platforms
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic relationships in the media & entertainment industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Communication or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred
