Episode Information

The Tribune company is cutting jobs, and slashing it's news output at papers like the Hartford Courant and Baltimore Sun.
The trends aren't new - newspapers have been taking hits from declining ad revenues for several years - and many papers like the Courant had already started to shrink. But from inside the newsroom - Courant staffers are expressing shock and wondering what this might mean for the future of America's oldest continuously published newspaper. Meanwhile, company executives are saying these actions are necessary to remain competitive.
In the short term - what it will mean is a different looking newspaper - bigger, bolder graphics...more prominent advertising...fewer stories.
