CPTV and Barnes & Noble Bookstore teamed up on Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15, 2008, for two days of reading and fun at the Barnes & Noble located in Blue Back Square, 60 Isham Road, West Hartford.

This special two-day event, which began at noon on Friday, November 14 and continued at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, featured meet-and-greets with characters from CPTV’s popular lineup of children’s programs, including SuperWHY!, Curious George, Sheira and Loli’s Ditty Doodle Works and Martha Speaks. Other activities included live performances by Mr. Steve, who appears on CPTV in the mornings during PBS Kids segments, singing his “SteveSongs," as well as Sheira and Loli’s Dittydoodle Works sing-along, and performances by The Hartford Children’s Theatre Discovery Company Players. Plus, there were story times and book signings with children’s authors Janet Lawler, reading her book If Kisses Were Colors,and Kathleen Kudlinski, author of young adult science picture books, historical novels and biographies. “CPTV Kids” coloring and crafts activities, face painting and raffle drawings were also enjoyed by the children. 

 
Plus, a percentage of sales from all Barnes & Noble stores in Connecticut on November 14 & 15 was donated to CPTV to benefit its children's programming and other educational initiatives. At the time of purchase, customers simply had to tell the cashier that they’d like to support CPTV, and a donation was provided to the station.

3:30 p.m.        “SteveSongs” and meet and greet with Mr. Steve 
 
Saturday, November 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
10 a.m.           Story time and book signing with Janet Lawler
11 a.m.           Meet and greet with Curious George, SuperWHY! and
                      Martha the Dog from Martha Speaks
Noon               Sheira and Loli’s Dittydoodle Works sing-a-long and meet and greet
1:30 p.m.         Face painting
2 p.m.             Story time and activity with Kathleen Kudlinski: author of Science Picture Books
3 p.m.             Hartford Children’s Theater Discovery Company Players
4:00 – 5:00      Meet & Greet Martha, Super WHY, Curious George 

 

 Coloring, craft tables, and raffle drawings were available on both days.  All events were free!
