On Tuesday, December 31, WNPR/Connecticut Public Radio will ring in the new year with the 2013-2014 edition of Toast of the Nation beginning at 9 p.m. and running until 5 a.m. on January 1, New Year’s Day.
An annual NPR tradition, Toast of the Nation features festive jazz that airs all night long from coast to coast. Guided by WBGO's Rhonda Hamilton, Toast of the Nation takes listeners on a musical tour of the U.S., featuring performances from six different locations around the country and countdowns to midnight from all four continental time zones.
This year, Toast of the Nation will include stops in Boston; Washington, D.C.; New York City; Chicago; Denver; and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Performers will include the Donald Harrison Quintet, performing live; Cecile McLorin Salvant with the Aaron Diehl Trio; the Wynton Marsalis Septet, performing live; Paquito D'Rivera with the Kaia String Quartet; Convergence with special guest Larry Goldings; and Bobby McFerrin and the spirityouall band.
