 The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra conducted by music director, Toshiyuki Shimada, begins its 67th season on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 8 PM, at the Garde Arts Center in New London.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Symphony, the opening concert of the 2013-2014 concert series, features guest artist, pianist, Vijay Venkatesh, performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No, 1.

The concert begins with Dukas The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and ends with Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4 (the Inextinguishable.)

The performance is preceded by a pre-concert conversation between music director Toshi Shimada and Vijay Venkatesh at 7 PM. Members of the audience are invited to a post-concert reception.
